It was another landmark host reminiscent of its former milestone, Face of Africa 2010 Finale held in the nation’s showbiz capital Lagos not too long ago.

The International clothing company known for colours and style on several occasions has run foul of racial common sense with its style of appeal to its customers through the use of’ derogatory campaign.
The company has received thorough battering from across the world because of its use of image to speak to the world as an establishment still learning how to come to terms with other people with colours different from its own backyard.
Its deliberate derogatory appeal to a section of the world has definitely been put to history as the company finds a new appeal in our fast changing world.
Benetton has evolved, truly coming to terms with the real world of colours, variety and multiplicity. It is in this light that the world conglomerate cannot afford to miss the opportunity of getting closer to Africa through the use of Africa’s child for a more pronounced appeal.
Benetton has just completed an online contest to find the ‘Face’ of their new campaign. One of the people vying for this lifetime opportunity is a young Nigerian model, Zainab ‘Zain’ Balogun.
Zainab told Bella Naija:”I am only seeking *God’s favour * Got the big smile…. Most of all………the bald head…of course is a plus point to put me in the centre point of world fashion. I am simply an unconventional being. I don’t try to be like anybody else or to fit into anyone’s preconceptions. I am not perfect but I am special and made special.
I haven’t come this far by myself I did it with a little help from my family, friends, facebook family, twitter friends and all of those who got me noticed with their online help so thank you all”.
We salute the courage of Zainab as she opts to prove to Benetton that black is unique and beautiful. We wish her the best as she waits impatiently for the result from Benetton, drawn from thousands of other applicants and coming later this month when the first hundred successful girls would be chosen.
Who says wonders has ceased to happen? We could soon be celebration one of our own being made a world stage fashion Queen if the wish of many Nigerians who overwhelmingly voted for Zainab is sometihning to go by.
