Mr David Edevbie, the principal secretary of the ailing president was said to have developed a cold feet following recent development as clamour for the impeachment of the President is reaching a crescendo.
According to reports, the Principal Secretary neither answers nor returns phone calls in recent times as his destination is unknown.
It is being speculated by an online blogger that Edevbie may currently be hibernating in Dubai, the favourite destination for Nigeria’s elites in recent years.
It is also being speculated among political circle that his master could have summoned him to Saudi Arabia for an update on events as they unfold in the country.
Acccording to a source close to the Secretary, Edevbie has developed a cold feet over feelings that he could be summoned by the nation’s parliamentarian to explain the circumstances of how the President’s signature was placed on 2009 supplimentary appropriation bill claimed to have been signed by the President..
“David Edevbie is believed to have left Nigeria over fears that the National Assembly may decide to take him up over his role in the 2010 budget purportedly signed by President Yar‘adua” the source speculated..
He had claimed that President Yar’adua signed the 2009 supplementary appropriation bill passed by the National Assembly.
On 22 December, Edevbie claimed to have gotten instructions to come to Jeddah with the budget.
On arrival, he claimed he didn’t see the president but was asked to handover the budget to a yet to be identified person, who he had claimed had access to the president in the King Faisal Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
The president reportedly signed the budget, but many Nigerians doubted whether the president actually signed it and the issue has attracted legal experts currently parading the issue in a law court for more clarification.
Many had believed the president’s signature was forged and all the claims made by Edevbie were just made up.
When he returned to Nigeria, Edevbie refused to answer questions on the authenticity of the signature.
His disappearance however may be dealing another big blow on the image of the Nigeria’s Presidency as a very crucial link in the office of the president.
A source claimed:”As the Principal Secretary, he is the heart and soul of the President as a close confidant and very intimate worker.
He could be having answers to many unanswered questions on the situation in the Presidency.
