Seyi Ogunyemi, one of the champions of Newspaper and Magazine distribution in the United kingdom and Ireland is dead.
Seyi as he is fondly called passed away recently after a protracted illness at the premature age of 50.
He was survived by his pretty wife, Lamide and three young children.
Mr Ogunyemi for more than twenty years remained the main hook between Nigerian Newspapers and Magazines and their readers in the United kingdom ensuring the papers’ penetrations into the complex and energy sapping black newspapers market, especially in London Metropolis.
He has for long won the heart of many distributors of the newspaper trade today having inspired many of them into the business through strong canvassing and encouragement.
He remained the main distributing link for Ovation Magazine for several years and still maintains cordial relationship with many Magazine and Newspapers Proprietors as their distributing motivator and advisor.
He will be seriously missed by hundreds of Newspaper agents across London and many big cities across South England.
Among many Newspapers and magazines which he single-handedly promoted in London Metropolis are: Newswatch, Tell, The News, Africa Now, West Africa, Complete Football, Punch Newspapers, Concord, Prime People, Vintage People, Encomiums, Home News and many soft sell Magazines.
He will be seriously missed by actors in the trade and many Nigerian local stores where he had established himself as the face of Nigeria Newspaper and magazines.
His active life also included his position as an executive member of the London based Headquarters of the Celestial Church of Christ, United Kingdom and Ireland. He is also the life act Secretary of Celestial Church of Christ, (Elmorijah Parish), London, where he has served for almost fifteen years. He will be seriously missed by the church. Superior Evangelist Michael Bello, Shepherd-In Charge of CCC, Elmorijah Parish described Mr Ogunyemi as a loyal friend and close confidant who has remained un-detachable from his daily activities.
“He remained a true child of God and a fervent worshiper”, he said. He said the entire congregation at Elmorijah has remained inconsolable since Seyi’s departure.
Mr Ogunyemi’s interment will take place on February 3, 2010.
According to the burial arrangement announced by the family during the week, a service of song will take place at the Church premises on Unit 10, Juno Way, off Surrey Canal Road, London S.E 14 5RW on February 2, 2010. Friends, relatives and all well wishers have been advised to converge at the Church premises at about 7pm.
His final interment will take place on Wednesday February 3, 2010 at Eltham Crematorium, Crown Woods, Way, London SE 9 2AZ.
Friends, families and all close associates have been urged to converge at the family residence, 28, Standish House, Elford Close, Kidbrook, London SE3 9YP.
Funeral procession to the Cemetery will commence from the deceased residence at 1.00pm.
